A device for suspending a current transformer in a wind turbine
Field of the invention
The present invention relates in general to the field of wind turbines. More specifically the present invention relates in a first aspect to a device for suspending a current transformer on a busbar rig in a wind turbine. In a second aspect the present invention relates to a system for measuring power supplied to the grid from a wind turbine, wherein said system comprises a device according to the first aspect in combination with a current transformer. In a third aspect, the present invention relates to a busbar rig for a wind turbine, said busbar rig comprises a device according to the first aspect of the present invention, or comprising a system according to the second aspect of the present invention. In a fourth aspect the present invention relates to a use of a device according to the first aspect of the present invention or of a system according to the second aspect of the present invention, or of a busbar rig according to the third aspect of the present invention in performing a measurement of the power generated from a wind turbine and supplied to the grid. In a fifth aspect the present invention relates to a wind turbine comprising a device according to the first aspect of the present invention or comprising a system according to the second aspect of the present invention, or comprising a busbar rig according to the third aspect of the present invention.
Background of the invention
Within the field of wind turbines and the operation thereof it is customary that the company responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a wind turbine is different from the company operating the grid into which electric power generated by the wind turbine is supplied.
As payment is required from the company operating the grid to the company operating the wind turbine, it is in the interest of the company operating the grid that the payment for power supplied to the grid is based on the magnitude of power actually delivered to the grid and not just based on the magnitude of power produced and measured on the generator or on the transformer of the wind turbine.
Accordingly, in order to provide for a more accurate measurement of the power actually being supplied to the grid from a wind turbine it has been practice for the latest decades to arrange a current transformer on the busbars arranged between the grid on the one hand and transformer and/or converter on the other hand.
Preferably, it is customary to arrange such a current transformer on a busbar relating to each of the three phases of the power output of the wind turbine.
A current transformer simple comprises a coil with one or more windings. The current transformer is placed around a busbar in such a way that current flowing in the busbar will
DK 2018 00381 A1 induce a current in the coil of the current transformer which in turn can be measured and which will be representative of the magnitude of power supplied to the grid.
Now, as high voltages are present in the electric installations of the secondary side of a power transformer of a wind turbine electric hazards are involved in case any tampering with these installations are being performed.
Therefore, severe safety regulations are to be complied with in designing and setting up the busbar suspension rig and once set up, there are strict restrictions regulating which types of modifications and add-ons are allowed in this design.
Moreover, it is important in relation to the accuracy of the measurement being performed on the current transformer that the busbar is arranged in the center of the current transformer.
For the reasons given above, arranging a current transformer on the busbar rig of a wind turbine may pose certain challenges, as safety regulations have to be complied with and because accurate measurements performed on the current transformer is desired.
The present invention in its various aspect seeks to solve these problems.
Accordingly, it is an objective of the present invention to provide devises and uses which solves these problems.

DK 2018 00381 A1 or of a busbar rig according to the third aspect of the present invention in performing measurements of the power supplied to the grid from a wind turbine.
The fifth aspect of the present invention
In a fifth aspect the present invention relates to a wind turbine comprising a device according to the first aspect of the present invention or comprising a system according to the second aspect of the present invention, or comprising a busbar rig according to the third aspect of the present invention.
Referring now to the drawings for better illustrating the present invention, fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a prior art busbar rig of a wind turbine.
Fig. 1 shows the busbar rig 4 comprising three current conducting beams 58 which are being held together by a first bracket 12 and a second bracket 20 via bolts 56. The current flowing in the current conducting beams 58 originates from power which has been produced in the generator of the wind turbine and which has been directed through a power transformer and optionally also a power converter. The brackets 12, 20 are electrically isolated from the beams 58.
In order to direct the power produced by the wind turbine into the grid, each individual current conducting beam 58 is connected to an individual busbar 5.
Accordingly, in respect of each busbar 5, a first end terminal thereof is in electric contact with a specific current conducting beam 58, whereas a second end terminal of the busbar is in electric contact with a specific power cable extending to the ground along the longitudinal direction of the wind turbine tower (not shown in fig. 1).
Fig. 2 is an exploded view illustrating the components making up a device according to the first aspect of the present invention and its combination with a current transformer in the form of a system according to the second aspect of the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows that the device 100 for suspending a current transformer comprises a first support bar 6 having a first end 8 and a second end 10; and a second support bar 14 having a first end 16 and a second end 18.
The first support bar 6 is configured for being arranged on top of a first existing bracket 12 in a busbar rig 4 of a wind turbine. Likewise, the second support bar 14 is configured to be arranged on top of a second existing bracket 20 in the busbar rig 4 of that wind turbine.
The first support bar 6 and the second support bar 14 are attached to its corresponding bracket 12, 20 via the treaded bushing 52 being connected to the bolts below that bushing in the existing busbar rig, and via bolts being screwed into the busing 52 via through-going hole 36 in a first end of first and second support bars 6,14.
DK 2018 00381 A1
In fig. 1 it is seen that the first and the second support bar 6,14 is having a u-shaped crosssection. This geometry will aid in supporting the respective support bar 6,14 on the first and second existing bracket 12,20, respectively, of the busbar rig of the wind turbine.
On top of the first and second support bars 6,14 is arranged a cross bar 22 at a second end 10,18 of the first and second support bar 6,14, respectively.
The cross bar 22 is attached to the first and second support bars 6,14 via bolts and nuts as shown.
Below a middle portion 42 of the cross bar 22 two elongation elements 28,28' extend in a downward direction. The elongation elements 28,28' are at a first end 30 thereof attached to the cross bar 22 via nuts as shown.
The opposite or second end 32 of the elongation elements 28,28' is attached to a mounting bracket 34 for a current transformer 2.
The mounting bracket 34 itself comprises a first, upper element 46 and a second, lower element 48. The first, upper element and the second, lower element are being arranged in a configuration where they are arranged on top of and below, respectively, of the current transformer 2, and the elongation elements 28,28' are configured for being connected to the first, upper element 46 of the mounting bracket.
It is seen in Fig. 2 that the current transformer comprises a central hole 54. In operation, a busbar to be connected to the grid is arranged in the hole 54 of the current transformer.
Fig. 2 also shows presence of elongate holes 38 in the first support bar 6 and the second support bar 14; and also shows the presence of elongate holes 40 in the cross bar 22.
Accordingly, the elongate holes 38 and 40 allows for adjusting the position and thus centering the relative location of the busbar, penetrating the hole 54, in relation to the current transformer 2 in mutually perpendicular directions. Hereby, an exact centering of the busbar in the current transformer is possible, and hence an accurate measurement of the power being delivered to the grid may be accomplished.
It is preferred that each busbar being connected to a grid in a wind turbine, such as three busbars each representing a single phase of power produces, passes a current transformer 2 being suspended in a device 100 according to the present invention.
The combination of the device 100 illustrated in Fig. 2 with the current transformer 2 makes up the system 200 according to the second aspect of the present invention.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating the system of the invention. The system comprises the device 100 for suspending a current transformer 2 in combination with such a current transformer 2.
Fig. 3 shown that the system 200 comprises a first support bar 6 and a second support bar 8. The first support bar and the second support bar 8 are connected to each other via a cross bar
DK 2018 00381 A1
22. From the cross bar, two elongation elements 28,28' extend downwardly to a mounting bracket 34 for a current transformer 2.
The current transformer 2 is arranged between a first, upper element 46 and a second, lower element 48 of the mounting bracket 34. The two elongation elements 28,28' are being 5 connected to the first, upper element of said mounting bracket 34.
It is seen in Fig. 3 that the system 200 comprising the device 100 and the current transformer 2 is arranged on top of two brackets 12,20 of an existing busbar rig of a wind turbine and are secured thereto.
It should be understood that all features and achievements discussed above and in the appended claims in relation to one aspect of the present invention and embodiments thereof apply equally well to the other aspects of the present invention and embodiments thereof.
